Workshops and talks

These informal workshops or talks are designed to address a group to educate them on subjects of health and wellness. To say that there is some conflicting information out there is an understatement. Providing information in a group setting may help answers questions that a single person may not reach out for by themselves.

While these workshops can be tailored to any group of people of any gender or age, I am particularly passionate about talking to young adolescents and young adults.

My own battles with health began in high school. Ideals surrounding body types and what is deemed "healthy" vs. what a teenager "naturally" wants to eat tend to conflict. Peer pressure is a massive determinant when it comes to their food during this time. If all their friends want to go to a fast food restaurant for lunch, they're likely to go along - even if they don't want the food itself, they'd be going for the social interaction. The same might go for diets. It is vital that a healthy relationship with food either begins or is maintained during these years, as bad habits (or a bad relationship with food or their body) can be a lot harder to break later on.

One of our most important stages of life is during our teenage years as we go through puberty. It is important that we nourish ourselves according to what our bodies need in that time. But what is that exactly? Is there a reason why teens tend to crave fatty foods? Absolutely - but there are better alternatives than fast food, crisps and chocolate. I can guarantee that the alternatives can satisfy these cravings!

So if you know a school, class or group who may need some basic education on health or a specific subject in particular, get in touch now!
