Plant-based education

What are the reasons for adhering to a plant-based diet? How do I ensure that I get all the right macro and micro nutrients? Are fake meats and cheeses still good for you? Is it safe for children?

Have you noticed how fast the plant-based movement is growing? I'm sure you have because not only are plant-based options becoming available in almost all restaurants and supermarkets but fully plant-based restaurants and supermarkets are popping up!

There IS good reason for this! *(See note)

People are not only waking up to the nasties that are being added to their food in terms of animal products (hormones, antibiotics, nitrates or even the legal allowance of levels of pus in dairy) but they are also recognising the massive health benefits of eating more plants. An improvement in heart heart, blood pressure stabilisation, weight loss and even a reversal of type II diabetes - to name a few!

Now let me emphasise here that I am talking about a whole foods plant-based diet. It is actually easy to be on a "junk food" plant-based diet. There are a lot of poor quality fake meats out there and crisps, many instant noodles, chips and oreos are vegan! These foods have little to no nutritional values to them.

So how do you start? Or improve? What good quality alternatives are there? How do you make this transition while still ensuring you are improving your health? Get in touch for some plant-based education!

*Note: Here I will only be addressing the health aspects of a plant-based diet. If you wish to dive into the environmental or sustainability reasons, please watch the documentary Cowspiracy. If you wish to know more about the treatment of animal and animal rights aspect, then please watch Food Inc or if you're brave and wish to be truly enlightened to the horrors of the animal industry (food, entertainment, clothing, pets and animal testing), then watch Earthlings. If you believe you could never ditch the cheese, a good quick introduction to the dairy industry is a quick youtube vide called Dairy Is Scary.

Of course don't hesitate to get in touch for more information or go to the resources tab on this site!
